symptoms of Age Related Macular Degeneration

In the early stages of macular degeneration, there are often no symptoms, but as the disease progresses, patients may start noticing some changes.

In the dry form or AMD, early changes may be some subtle blurring of vision, some loss of contrast, or noticing you have a harder time adapting to dimmer light after being out in bright light.  As the dry AMD progresses, you may start noticing loss of central vision or some waviness of lines.

The wet form of ARMD, patients often notice a sudden change in vision.  They will see a sudden dark spot in their central vision.  They may also see wavy or distorted vision, for example a straight door frame may bend.

If you have any questions or concerns about your vision, call you eye doctor.
